My name is Carlos Uribe. I am a musician/film/photography guy. I was born and raised in the SGV (El Monte). I've always had an intense interest in OUR local SGV history. I've researched online to try and find archival photos and/or footage of El Monte dating back to the early 20th century up to around the 1970's.
I was quite SUPRISED to find that there is not much out there. I stumbled across your website "The Way I Remember It" and I was really impressed with your collection of photos,footage and wonderful stories that went along with your presentation.
For the past 6 years I've worked as a photographer and film composer in the film industry. More recently, I've dabbled in film making. My projects have included short films, music videos and I'm currently the scoring music for a short film and director of photography for a new web series.
For quite some time now, I've wanted to film a documentary about the SGV (San Gabriel Valley). As you well know, the SGV is a history rich in culture and music. Throughout my life I've come to realize just how much I DIDN'T KNOW about our wonderful community and it's GREAT history. What little I have been able to learn has come from people like yourself who understand, appreciate and value our San Gabriel Valley history.
It would be a great opportunity to correspond with you, to perhaps learn more about how and what you researched to develop your website. It seems you have quite a wealth of information and knowledge regarding our SGV history...Information and knowledge that would contribute greatly to a documentary film project .
