From Lloyd Hartzell

It is amazing how the internet has allowed people to connect. About a month ago a friend of mind sent me an email with a link to your blog “When we were home”, tonight I finally opened the link. I was born in Covina at the Inter-Community Hospital in 1956. My Mother was from Arkansas and moved to California during the 50’s like many people from Arkansas. My dad was from Illinois and was in the Navy. Somehow they met and were married in Yosemite Park. I grew up in Baldwin Park and graduated from BP high school in 1974.  As I looked at your pictures chills ran down my back. Growing up I played and swam at Morgan park, watch my parents Bowl at Covina Bowl, ate at Bob’s Big Boy, spent many nights siting on the hood of my car eating at the IN and Out on Francisquito (had to look up the spelling). So many places, at 13 I shined shoes at a Barber shop next to the Jet room, later I worked at the Alpha Bata Market. I can just list places, maybe I can bring back some memories for you, Chardon’s Restaurant, Charlie Snider’s Meat Market, Broadway, JC Penny’s, Market Basket, Fitzpatrick Pharmacy, Knott’s Berry farm (No Fences), San Gabriel Canyon, Drive in theaters (was there a double drive in on Azusa Canyon), Rose Bowl, Hunting Beach, Olvera Street, Magic Mountain, I could go on and on.
My friend was my great administrative Assistant until she retired over a year ago. She grew up in the same area both of us went to Mt. San Antonio College at some point. I looked at your face book page and found another surprise. A mutual friend Nancy Jordan, Nancy and I have been friends for over 35 years, I met Nancy when her parents owned the Taco Bell in Baldwin Park in the 70’s. We have visited many times in Arkansas.

Thanks for sharing it was nice to remember those good times.
